Australian business groups are reigniting the campaign for 457 visa reform, stating that the time has come to 'dispel misinformation about the 457 visa scheme....'
In a move likely to create friction with unions over the 457 visa for temporary skilled migrants, business groups are demanding that the government abolishes 'Labor-era market testing arrangements in the scheme.'
In a letter to the Productivity Commission, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry wrote that labor market testing should be scrapped. The Australian Mines and Metals Association (AMMA) said that labor market testing requirements for 457 visas 'add red tape.'

UK Top 10 immigration country for Skilled Workers
A new study puts the UK immigration system in seventh place for its ability to attract, develop and retain highly-skilled foreign workers.
The Global Talent Competitiveness Index, a study carried out by the Adecco Group in partnership with international business school INSEAD and the Human Capital Leadership Institute, found that the UK had retained its 2014 place as the seventh most talent competitive nation in the world.
The report was published about the same time as the Migration Advisory Committee (MAC) review into the UK's Tier 2 Visa system was published. The MAC recommends that the UK government should act to further restrict the Tier 2 Visa.

Tier 2 visa restrictions causing shortage of Asian chefs in the UK
The owner of a small chain of curry houses across Kent - a county in South East England - says that being unable to recruit chefs from Southern Asia due to tough UK immigration rules is causing major problems for his restaurant chain.
In an interview with The Economist, Pasha Khandaker says that he was forced to close one of his restaurants eight months ago; others in his chain continue to struggle.
