UK working visa changes 'discriminatory' says Australian government
A report published by Australia’s Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) has criticised possible changes to UK working visas - such as to the Tier 2 Visa scheme - describing them as discriminatory and harmful to UK-Australia relations.
The Australian government warned that new UK working visa rules, which, if they come into effect in 2016, will cause ‘structural damage to formal relations between the two countries.’ It seems that Theresa May the UK Home Secretary is in favour of even tougher immigration rules.

Fewer Irish backpackers applying for Australian working holiday visas
According to a report by the Sydney Morning Herald – a popular Australian newspaper - there are fewer Irish backpackers applying for Australian working holiday visas such as the 417 visa.
The report states that Irish backpacker numbers in Australia have declined by more than half in the past three years.
The decline is a severe blow to Australia's farmers and tourism operators, which are reliant on people with Australian working holiday visas during busy periods....

US H-1B and L-1 visa doubling of visa fees controversial
The much reported visa fee increases for both the H-1B visa (from $2,000 to $4,000) and the L-1 visa (from $2,250 to $4,500) have unsurprisingly caused some ripples between Indian and US official bodies. This visa fee increase applies to Companies that have more than 50 employees more than 50% of which are H-1B visa employees.
This affects mainly Indian owned companies in the US. These hikes (see WorkPermit's previous article about this issue), will provide funds for 9/11 first responders and provide funding for a biometric entry and exit system.
