A new study has found that the UK, along with the Netherlands, has the greatest percentage of 'immigrant-origin' MPs. The findings are the result of an international project – 'Pathways to Power' – which studied the political representation of immigrant-origin MPs across Britain, Belgium , France , Germany , Greece, Italy , the Netherlands and Spain .

There have been growing concerns in Europe and the UK about immigration levels. The good news is that the findings show that MPs of immigrant-origin are well-represented in Westminster. In particular, MPs of Indian descent occupy key roles; there were ten elected during the UK General Election in May 2015.

The number of Tier 2 Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) available for allocation in March according to the Government table is 2329. This is not a precise figure. From past experience it is likely to be more than that. The actual number will probably be similar to the number available in February 2016. UK Visas and Immigration published its February report stating that its figures were correct as of 17 February, 2016.
