UK Tier 2 Sponsor Licence and 2021 points system

As expected, it seems that there will be an expansion of the Tier 2 Sponsor Licence and Tier 2 visa system in 2021. Unless there is a delay in the Brexit transitional period more employers will need a Sponsor Licence in 2021. In fact, the Government is encouraging more employers to apply under the Tier 2 Sponsor Licence system.
Newly arriving EU citizens will need to come under the expensive, complicated and bureaucratic UK visa system. Irish nationals will continue to come under the Common Travel Area and so will be unaffected.
Coronavirus latest restrictions and visa update
The Coronavirus outbreak is making big news around the World. There are few restrictions on travel within the European Union However, there are more and more restrictions at airports around the World. Travellers who have recently visited China, Italy and other areas hardest hit by the Coronavirus (Covid-19) are being denied entry in certain Countries. Cases of Covid-19 have now been confirmed in 83 countries and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) have published details of restrictions on their website.
US H1B visa cap lottery system for employers set up by USCIS
It remains to be seen how the H1B Lottery system operates in practice. It will be much simpler and cheaper for employers. You just need to submit an online application with the small fee of $10. As it is much more convenient and cheaper than before to apply under what will certainly turn out to be a lottery there could be a huge increase in applications. Only if people are picked will the usual Government fees for an H1B visa application need to be paid.
As before, the likelihood of success is low. If more people apply for the limited number of cap subject H1B visas it may turn out to be more difficult than before to gain an H1B visa. Only 85,000 visas are available.
New UK visa and immigration points-based system unveiled
There are numerous criticisms of the new UK visa points based system due to be implemented from 1 January 2021. If low skilled workers are not allowed into the Country under the new system, this is likely to mean serious skills shortages.
Is it really that likely that in 2021 you will suddenly be able to replace newly arriving EU and EEA workers, who in the past would come to the UK to do these jobs, with UK residents?
