Following the last Tier 2 visa allocation meeting of 2016, the number of restricted Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) available for January 2017 was 2,803, according to UK Visas and Immigration data. The department published its December report stating that its figures were correct as of 19 December, 2016. Employers should remember to apply by the 5th of each month to obtain a Tier 2 COS allocation at the next allocation meeting.
An employer with a Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence needs to apply for restricted Certificates of Sponsorship for immigrants they wish to employ who are based outside the UK. Under the current UK visa system, unused Tier 2 restricted CoS to employ people who are currently based outside the UK can be reclaimed after three months. This increases the availability of restricted CoS so enabling employers to employ more immigrants on Tier 2 UK visas.
The December 2016 Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship allocation meeting took place on 12 December. All valid applications lodged by 5 December were successful, provided they scored 21 points or more.
