Brexit if it does actually happen (or is delayed) is less than two months away. Many employers are starting to wonder what they will do if they are unable to recruit EU workers. The expensive, bureaucratic, and confusing Tier 2 Sponsor Licence and Tier 2 visa system is not fit for purpose in this situation.
Tier 2 Sponsor Licence applications are refused for minor mistakes or due to mistakes made because hardly anyone understands the extremely long and confusing Tier 2 visa related guidance documents provided by the Government. If the Government was really interested in helping employers then UK Visa and Immigration would contact employers to correct mistakes instead of refusing Tier 2 Sponsor Licence applications outright.
Following the latest Tier 2 visa allocation of restricted certificates of sponsorship meeting, the number of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) available for February 2019 stands at 2,317, according to UK Visas and Immigration data. The department published its December report, citing that its figures were correct as of 22 January, 2019.
An employer with a Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence needs to apply for Certificates of Sponsorship for immigrants they wish to employ. Restricted certificates of sponsorship are needed in many cases to employ migrants who are resident outside the UK. In most cases those applying to switch to a Tier 2 visa from within the UK do not need a restricted Certificate of Sponsorship. Also, you do not need a restricted CoS for Tier 2 Intra-Company transfer applicants. Under the current UK immigration system, unused Tier 2 restricted CoS to employ people who are currently based outside the UK, can be reclaimed after three months. This increases the availability of restricted CoS.
The number of certificates reclaimed as not used within three months for the month of January totalled 168.
The January, Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship allocation meeting took place on 11 January, 2019. All valid applications lodged by 5 January were successful, provided they scored the 21 points needed for an application to be approved.

The next UK Visas and Immigration allocation meeting will take place on 11 February and will indicate the number of Tier 2 CoS that will be available for the month of March, 2019.
