Immigration Health Surcharge to double affecting Tier 2 Visa, Tier 1 Entrepreneur Visa and others; consider applying Now
The controversial Immigration Health Surcharge is likely to double in December 2018, which was originally announced in February 2018. If you wish to avoid the new healthcare surcharge you should make sure you apply for a Tier 2 visa before December 2018. If you need a Tier 2 sponsor licence first you should apply as soon as possible.
A number of people have suggested that this tax is very unfair. People coming to the UK on a work related visa such as the Tier 2 visa already have to pay tax. The NHS funding comes out of this tax. On top of this there is this extra charge. It seems that this increase to the Immigration Health Surcharge will make an unfair situation even worse.
E1 and E2 visa access for New Zealanders but when exactly
President Trump signed the KIWI Act into law on 1 August 2018. The bill had been introduced by Senators Mazie K. Hirono – Democratic representative for Hawaii - and Mike Lee – Republican representative for Utah, to make it possible for New Zealanders to access US E1 treaty trade and E2 treaty investor visas.
The KIWI Act to enable New Zealand nationals to come under the E2 visa and E1 visa scheme was passed into law on 1 August 2018. That was more than three months ago. How long will it be before New Zealanders will be able to take advantage of this scheme? In the meantime there is the L1 visa scheme and H1B visa schemes. However, it is difficult coming under these visa schemes.
UK Tier 2 Visa Review by workpermit.com October 2018
The situation has improved enormously for many Tier 2 visa employers with a Sponsor Licence and Tier 2 visa migrants since August 2018. From December 2017 to June 2018 the points requirement for a restricted CoS to employ someone based outside the UK was very high. This meant that many employers simply could not afford to pay the salary required to gain enough points which was about £50,000 plus.
The UK visa scheme is restrictive. If you cannot come under the Tier 2 visa scheme the alternatives the Tier 1 Entrepreneur visa scheme and Tier 1 Exceptional Talent visa scheme are also difficult to come under.
UK Tier 2 Visa scheme could become a lot more difficult
As we reported recently if you are an employer with a Tier 2 Sponsor Licence and wish to apply to employ Tier 2 visa migrants based outside the UK you should consider applying soon. It is possible that it could become more difficult in future.
Sajid Javid the Home Secretary previously said in June in a letter to MAC the Migration Advisory Committee that the decision to remove doctors and nurses from the restricted Certificate of Sponsorship cap was “temporary” and that it would “keep this change under review”. The Home Office only provided details of this letter on Thursday.
On Friday Sajid Javid said something different and tweeted:
“In June I took action to exempt doctors and nurses from annual cap on skilled visas. Let me be clear: whilst all immigration rules kept under review, I have no plans to remove the exemption.”
