Trump requirements for H1B and L1 US visa holders mean mandatory face to face interviews for US Green Cards
L1 visa and H1B visa holders will need to attend an in person interview in order to gain legal permanent residence with a US Green Card, as part of Donald Trump's 'extreme vetting' of immigrants.
The new policy will affect anyone holding a temporary (non immigrant) employment based US visa, which means R and O visa holders will also be affected in addition to L1 and H1B holders, and will take effect from October 1, said USCIS Director James McCament on Friday.
UK visa promise for ‘skilled immigration’ talent post-Brexit made by government
UK Home Secretary, Amber Rudd, has hinted that a post-Brexit, UK visa for ‘skilled EU workers’ will be made available to continue attracting the top talent needed by Britain’s digital industry. In a written statement published in the Financial Times, Rudd said: “The UK must remain a hub for international talent.”
She added that it’s crucial for Britain to continue attracting the ‘brightest and best migrants from around the world’.
2,140 Tier 2 Certificates of Sponsorship Available for Allocation in September
Following the latest Tier 2 visa allocation meeting, the number of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) available for September 2017 stands at 2,140 – slightly down on July’s numbers - according to UK Visas and Immigration data. The department published its August report citing that its figures were correct as of 16 August, 2017.
An employer with a Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence needs to apply for Certificates of Sponsorship for immigrants they wish to employ. Under the current UK immigration system, unused Tier 2 restricted CoS to employ people who are currently based outside the UK can be reclaimed after three months. This increases the availability of restricted CoS used.
