IHMS can't locate refugees due to poor Australian immigration records
A combination of poor record keeping by the Australian Immigration department and bad data management by International Health and Medical Services (IHMS) has resulted in the IHMS being unable to locate asylum seekers under its care.
The IHMS, a private sector organisation that's responsible for the provision of healthcare across Australia's immigration detention centres, blames the Australian Immigration Department for the poor standard of record keeping.
The Australian Immigration Department says that the IHMS has failed to adhere to the guidelines given to them for managing data on asylum seekers.
Court overturns refusal of student loan based on UK immigration status
A school-leaver has successfully overturned a ban on certain immigrants receiving Government backed loans for higher education. The UK Supreme Court found in favour of 20-year-old, Beaurish Tigere who had been refused a student loan, a decision that could potentially pave the way for many other young people living in Britain, to finance their higher education. Not only are such students refused student loans, but they also have to pay foreign student tuition rates which are higher than for "home students".
Tigere, who came to the UK from Zambia at the age of six, attended primary and secondary schools in York. While at secondary school she was head girl, gained three A-levels and secured a place at Northumbria University to study international business management.

UK immigration officers and their vehicles attacked by gang
A gang of youths targeted UK immigration officers and their vehicles, while they raided a shop in Shadwell, East London, suspected of employing illegal immigrants. Officers were hit with eggs, and tyres on immigration-raid vans were slashed. Three'Immigration Enforcement' vans, plus a silver car were vandalised by the group. A number of news reports have suggested that the gang consisted of "muslims".
It's understood that immigration officials were present in Shadwell on Wednesday, 29 July, to apprehend three suspected Bangladeshi illegal immigrants from a shop. Returning to their Home Office vehicles in the next street, they discovered that the tyres had been slashed and paintwork had been damaged.
Police were called, but not before immigration officers were attacked with eggs, by youths from a nearby tower block.
40 per cent of illegal immigrants in the US are overstayers
According to Marc Rubio, the US Senator for Florida, the US immigration system is 'so broken' that close to half of all illegal immigrants in the country originally entered legally. During a Fox News interview on July 22, Rubio said: "We have a porous border and I'm not just talking about the border with Mexico, I mean in general. 40 per cent of illegals are here having overstayed their visas."
According to Florida based publication Politifact Rubio has mentioned the fourty percent figure before, most notably during his 2010 Senate campaign.
