USA: DV-2011 green card lottery to start soon
Starting on 2 October 2009, the United States will begin accepting applications for the Diversity Visa 2011 Lottery, otherwise known as the Green Card Lottery.
For those who wish to live and work in the United States, the Green Card Lottery is a good opportunity as it does not require a sponsor such as a family member or employer. The application deadline is 30 November 2009.
Changes to British Nationality Law from January 2010
The UK Border Agency in August 2009 announced changes to British Nationality Law under the Borders, Citizenship and Immigration Act 2009. Some of these changes will take place in January 2010.
The most significant change will be the introduction of "earned citizenship"; This will not come into force until the Summer of 2011. From January 2010 changes will take place which will make it easier for people in a limited number of cases to gain UK citizenship:

Canada invests in helping immigrants learn English and learn about Canada

UK Border Agency asks for comments on UK Visa Charges
The UK Border Agency announced on 9 September that they have launched a public consultation on the fees it charges for its immigration and visa services.
UKBA would like comments on the fees for the new "earned citizenship" to be introduced in 2009 and fee structures in other areas where they might offer "more tailored" services in future.
