Cosmetic changes have been made to US Permanent Resident Cards, also known as "green cards", the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Service (USCIS) has announced.
The new cards have "Department of Homeland Security" written prominently on the back and the DHS seal on the front, as well as other new security features. USCIS has started mailing the cards to immigrants who have received approval to have their cards renewed or to have their status adjusted to lawful permanent resident. Cards already in circulation will remain in circulation until the expiry of their validity date or their recall by USCIS.
USCIS distributed over 2.5 million Permanent Resident Cards last year.
