Following the latest Tier 2 visa allocation of restricted certificates of sponsorship meeting, the number of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) available for December 2018 stands at 2,213, according to UK Visas and Immigration data. The department published its November report, citing that its figures were correct as of 19 November, 2018.
Sanwar Ali workpermit.com comment:
The good news is that for about four months since August 2018 there has not been a shortage of restricted Certificates of Sponsorship. From December 2017 to about June 2018 salary rates to obtain a restricted Certificate of Sponsorship were so high that many employers with a Tier 2 sponsor licence simply could not afford it. Many doctors and nurses badly needed by the NHS and others were unable to gain entry to the UK during this time. However, the Tier 2 visa system remains overly complicated and bureaucratic. In addition, from December 2018 the cost of the annual Health Surcharge is likely to double.
An employer with a Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence needs to apply for restricted Certificates of Sponsorship for immigrants they wish to employ who are currently resident outside the UK. Under the current UK immigration system, unused Tier 2 restricted CoS to employ people who are currently based outside the UK, can be reclaimed after three months. This increases the availability of restricted CoS.
The number of certificates reclaimed as not used for the month of November totalled 300.
The November Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship allocation meeting took place on 12 November, 2018. All valid applications lodged by 5 November were successful, provided they scored the 21 points needed for an application to be approved.
