Chartered Quantity Surveyors have been added to the UK's National Shortage Occupation List as of 23 July 2007. The list comprises occupations that do not require a resident labour test. Resident labour tests are used to prove that a job cannot be filled by a national of the European Union or the European Economic Area.
Chartered Quantity Surveyors work within the construction industry to, in general, control and manage costs on a construction project.
The addition of Chartered Quantity Surveyors to the shortage list was a result of "consultation with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors and relevant key stakeholders on the Engineering Sector Advisory Panel."
