The US Government in an unique scheme grants 50,000 immigrant visas a year on the basis of a lottery scheme. This year you have to mail the application so that it reaches the US between October 7, 2002 and November 6, 2002. The requirements of the Green Card Lottery are as follows:
- You can apply if you or your spouse was born in most Countries in the World with very few Countries excluded. If you do not qualify based on your place of birth or place of birth of your spouse you may be able to apply based on the place of birth of your parents.
- You need to have a minimum of a high school education or have two years of experience in a job that requires two years of experience or training to do.
There are very detailed requirements on how to submit your application under the Lottery Scheme. It is a fact that a third of applications mailed to the US in previous years have not been accepted due to mistakes having been made in the application process.
