Following the Tier 2 visa allocation meeting, the number of Certificates of Sponsorship (CoS) available for May 2017 stood at 2,332, according to UK Visas and Immigration data. The department published its April report citing that its figures were correct as of 24 April, 2017.
An employer with a Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence needs to apply for Certificates of Sponsorship for immigrants they wish to employ. Under the current UK immigration system, unused Tier 2 restricted CoS to employ people who are currently based outside the UK can be reclaimed after three months. This increases the availability of restricted CoS used.
The April Tier 2 Certificate of Sponsorship allocation meeting took place on 12 April, 2017. All valid applications lodged by 6 April were successful, provided they scored 21 points or more.
Sanwar Ali workpermit.com has the following comment to make:
There continues to be good availability of restricted certificates of sponsorship. This is probably because it has become more and more expensive and difficult to apply for a tier 2 sponsorship licence and tier 2 visa. The Tier 2 Sponsorship Licence guidance in effect gives the Home Office numerous options to refuse, revoke or suspend a sponsorship licence. The requirements are so confusing and complex that probably no one including the Home Office fully understands them. The immigration skills charge which can cost up to £1,000 per employee per year adds considerably to the cost of employing a Tier 2 visa migrant.
